to the Commission
Rule 138
Catherine Griset (ID)
This week the Commission announced that it has mobilised EUR 47.7 billion, through Team Europe, to help third countries tackle the pandemic and its consequences. According to the Commission, this amount far exceeds the amounts initially pledged (EUR 20 billion), and the instrument is intended to be continued to respond to other crises. There is no question as to the merits and appropriateness of such funding, given the difficult post-COVID-19 economic and social situation in the EU itself.
We also learned that EUR 6.8 billion has been disbursed to the Western Balkans and Turkey, but no precise details were given.
Could the Commission therefore state:
- 1.the precise purpose of the disbursement of these amounts, and where they come from;
- 2.the calculation method used to determine them;
- 3.the exact amount received by Turkey.
