Debate on results of the October summit with Presidents Michel and von der Leyen


From 15.00, MEPs will assess the outcome of the European Council meeting of 20 and 21 October with European Council President Charles Michel and Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The summit focussed on Russia’s war against Ukraine, energy, climate change, Iran as well as relations with China and the upcoming EU-ASEAN summit.

Including energy measures in national recovery plans


To secure independence from Russian fossil fuels and accelerate the EU’s green transition, Parliament will debate with Commissioners Dombrovskis and Gentiloni from around 17.00 a draft law that would require EU countries to include energy-saving measures, boosts to clean energy production and the diversification of supply in their national recovery plans. The vote will take place tomorrow at 11.00. EP President Metsola and the three rapporteurs will hold a press conference after the vote.

New EU sustainability reporting rules for multinationals


MEPs will debate from around 18.00 new rules on compulsory reporting on environmental, social affairs and governance issues with Commissioner McGuinness. From 2024, large companies will need to disclose information on the way they operate and manage social and environmental risks. The vote will take place tomorrow at 11.00.

In brief


Croatia’s accession to Schengen. In a debate with Commissioner Schinas, MEPs are expected to urge the Council to approve Croatia’s accession to the free-travel area before the end of 2022. The vote will take place tomorrow.


EU video game strategy. In an evening debate, MEPs are expected to demand measures to boost EU-based video-game development and increase efforts to encourage and retain European talent. The vote will take place tomorrow.
